Video: Demo how to use Continuous passive motion (CPM) : Continuous Passive Motion machines (CPM Machines) gently move a surgically repaired joint (knee, shoulder, elbow, etc.) in order to help keep the joint flexible and lubricated.
CPM machines have been proven to do the following:
A patient’s joint, while placed in a CPM machine, moves in a comfortable, slow and rhythmic pattern. By increasing the fluid movement around the repaired joint, the continuous passive movement helps to reduce swelling, while also reducing pain. The continuous passive motion helps to keep the joint flexible and helps to increase the patient’s range of motion, reducing the risk of complications.

Continuous Passive Motion is a postoperative procedure designed to aid in the recovery after joint surgery. After extensive joint surgery, if a patient fails to move their joint, the tissue around the joint will become stiff and scar tissue will form, resulting in a joint with limited range of motion, which often takes months of physical therapy to recover. OptiFlex-K1 Knee CPM has interchangeable hand controls for maximum versatility.
The OptiFlex S Shoulder CPM, or continuous passive motion, is a machine that slowly and gently flexes and extends the knee.
The VascuTherm increases blood flow by providing targeted sequential compression of the foot followed by the calf using a rapid inflation/deflation pressure pulse. The compression cycle initiates with a quick compression of the popliteal space of the foot to 120mmHg within one second, then a sequential compression of the calf to 120mmHg within two seconds. Following the compression phase, the wraps are deflated rapidly and held at rest for a period of sixteen seconds. The cycle is repeated three times per minute.
VComp iPC DVT Treatment is intended to decrease the risk of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) by aiding blood flow back to the heart via lower extremity limb compression. The VComp iPC offers highly effective DVT prophylaxis when used with custom designed ThermoTek calf or foot compression garments. The foot garments are designed for rapid compression of the arch of the foot to 100mmHg and the calf garments allow compression of the lower leg to 45mmHg, with a compress and hold interval of thirty seconds and a deflate and rest interval of thirty seconds.
